Irvine’s 2024 Election
This November Irvine will have its first election by-district for City Council. Following the passage of Resolution 23-88, Irvine was divided into six districts that will each elect its own representative to represent its interests on the City Council. Instead of voting for five Councilmembers, Irvinites will only vote for one.
For this first election by district, candidates will run to represent Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4. Representatives elected to Districts 2, 3, and 4 will serve a four-year term. The representative for District 1 will serve a two-year term. Representatives for Districts 5 and 6 will not be elected until the 2026 midterm election. Mayors will still be elected at-large.
