Chalk it Up
Irvine is looking fabulous at 50. To celebrate our city’s anniversary, Irvine is launching the Chalk Art Project. For two Saturdays each month, July through September, Irvinites are invited to gather at various community centers to contribute chalk renditions of Irvine’s 50th anniversary logo. Connect with neighbors, enjoy time at Irvine’s city parks, and embrace your inner artist.
Artwork will be completed in an open outdoor area, and photos of each reimagined anniversary logo will be entered into a community contest. Bring a picnic and enjoy a day at the park while helping honor five decades of City history. Pre-registration is required for all events, and individual 20-minute slots are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to ensure all Irvinites have opportunities to get in on the action. Admission is $5 per family.

“As we ease back into summer events and enjoying what we love again, I can think of no better way to celebrate Irvine’s 50th anniversary than by bringing neighbors together and giving families fun opportunities to spend quality time with their children at our parks,” says Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “We look forward to seeing our city’s creativity on display and hope our residents enjoy these chances to get involved in the community.”
Residents are also encouraged to also participate from home by sharing photos of their chalk logo creations with the City on social media using the hashtag #chalkartirvine.
